Cíle:
- refreshing vocabulary concerning summer, summer holiday
- being able to describe one’s plans in future; talk about various travel destinations (students become conscious of the diversity of various destinations)
Aktivity:
ACTIVITY 1: “Summer holiday plans of the students” - a warm-up activity
- students work in pairs; they try to get as much information about each other’s plans for summer as possible
- each student says a few words about their classmate’s summer holiday plans
Language aim: The students practise speaking using vocabulary concerning the topic of holidays.
Cultural aim: As each of the students may come up with a different destination, all students realize the culture differences among various holiday destinations.
ACTIVITY 2: “We are the best destination”
- students in pairs get a picture of a famous holiday destination (Barcelona, Disneyland, New York, Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort, the Alps, Treetop Walkway Lipno); they try to make up the reasons why their destination is the best one to visit
- students present their destination in a best way possible to attract potential customers (their classmates)
- all students vote for the best presentation anonymously
- announcement of the winner
Language aim: The students practise speaking while using extraordinary vocabulary.
Cultural aim: The students think about various holiday destinations in terms of their original and typical features that make the destinations special.
ACTIVITY 3: “Guess the destination”
- brainstorming – summer holiday destinations – written on the board
- division of the students into two groups – each student from both the groups mimes any destination that is written on the board – both the groups guess, the first group to guess wins one point
- announcement of the winner
Language aim: The students practise the vocabulary concerning the topic of summer holiday destinations.
Cultural aim: The students think about various holiday destinations in terms of their original and typical features that make the destinations special.
