Students should know the most important facts about Thanksgiving. They should revise the use of Past Simple Tense.

1.  WARM UP ACTIVITY

„What do you know about Thanksgiving?“

„Where do people celebrate Thanksgiving?“

„When do they celebrate?“

„Why do they celebrate?“

„How do they celebrate?“

„What do they eat?“

We can write on the board: WHERE? / WHEN? / WHY? / ACTIVITIES? / FOOD?

At the end of the lesson we ask once more to revise these important facts.

2. STORY OF THANKSGIVING

We give handouts to the students.

“Put the verbs in bold into the Past Simple Tense.”

“Please, read the correct answers. First sentence….”

5. REVISION

We ask students the questions about Thanksgiving to revise the basic information.

6. THANKSGIVING TREE

“All American families say thanks during their Thanksgiving dinner. They are thankful for different things. Please write down what you are thankful for.”

We draw a tree on a board (on a poster) and students come and say: “I am thankful for….”. They stick their paper on a tree. They can cut a leaf out of the paper.
